My Band's New Years Eve Gig.

The gig was fantastic. Small venue. Packed house. Excellent crowd. All the guys in the band played exceptionally well. I had a blast. Even played an extra hour. What a tremendous way to see in the New Year. I was by myself so I got kisses from all the girls. All I said was. "Geez I didn't get a New Years kiss. "

Below are some pictures of us playing and one of my 1976 Ludwig Vista-Lite trap set with 1952 Ludwig, all wood, snare drum. Zildjian cymbals all around except for the Sabian splash.

Hello Kid Ric,

I am sooooo jealous! I spent a quiet evening home alone, sipping champagne and talking to my mom over the phone, getting ready for work (bliaaaah)...Not bad I suppose, but I say

BRING ON THE EXCITEMENT!!!

Going to work this morning I was listening to Quadrophenia, which cheered me up immensely!
No matter how many times I've heard it I still find it amazing... Oh, and Keith is just magic!!!!!

I'm curious to find out what you played on your gig, any chance of a set list? ;o)

Looking forward for our chat!

Very cool way to bring in the New year, Ric. The pics are very cool, and I especially like the seaside scene painted behind the stage, complete with seagulls to steal your food!

Cheers,

Kid Ric,

I will agree on the 52 Ludwig snare (I love wood snares) and the Zildjian/Sabian cymbals, looks like you have a nice heavy ride there... but a Vista-Lite? Noooooo! I can't stand the sound of those things! :)

Ah well, I think the cool drummer behind the ice-cream buckets would make up for it. I don't think I've seen a picture of you other than the little avatar one you have. You definitely make a cute drummer. (And you make great drummer faces too. :p)

My mum once asked my dad, "Why do you have make those faces while you play?" I think he was kind of insulted. He replied, "I'm not making faces, that's my face. That's what I look like!"

Hope you got paid for the extra hour! *grin*

Happy New Year!! Best to you and yours!

Jack

Happy Happy Kid Ric!

You crazy drummin', fire eatin' man you!

Great to see you having so much fun "bashing" away! It's always been a bit of a dream for me to play the drums.
Even before I fell for Keith Moon!
LOL

Our New Year was quiet.
And that is good.
Had a nice family day at home today, although we were supposed to go skiing. Just didn't get around to it.
Tomorrow...

I hope 2006 brings you all good things.

Ric,

Agreed the Evans hydraulics have an EXCELLENT sound to them. Lots of bottom end, a full sound.

Yup, I'm actually the spawn of a drummer and a groupie. :D

Thanks for stopping by the Jazzblog. If you have anything you want to contribute to it, just drop me a line, and I'll add you to the team.

Jack

P.S. (What time is this chat on Sunday?)

Was awesome JLee.

Yea Jack, there not drummer faces. That is the way I look. Hahaha.

We play the blues, clasic rock covers and a few originals. Marietta.

Thanks Anne Marie. I have been reading your story. Very expressive. I like it.

I understand Jack. That is what I thought. Me play frickin' plastic drums? I underestimated them. Have to have my old snare though. Smile. Love the Jazz blog. Good work.

Thanks Dale always nice to see you stopped by. Didn' get day 5 finished. Have a 11 way 3 hour conversation going on with Evan and have about another hour or so to complete.

Hapy New Year to you Tenderheart. I will have your song posted within' a week. Have to make time to go to the studio.

Sorry to hear about your computer Tommy. Chat will be fun.

Hey Mike. There are two songs I put up in December under the heading "My Band is working again.". Mojo workin' and Midnight Rambler.

Had a blast Storm. Thank you. Hope you did the same.

Hi PTfan. Good to see you around again.

Thanks Boo. Just a little piece of script I found makes the sweep. Cool huh?

Thanks for your most kind comments Mikey my friend. Rock on!

Get the fix in 2006! Or, is that, Get your kicks on route 66?

Peace, love and light to all.
